Weather and climate of the Frankiwsk region

 

Climate in the region is temperate-continental. The winter is mild with average temperature of    about -5 Celsius. Summer is warm with an average of + 18 Celsius. The Carpathian climate is more severe and change with altitude where average temperatures are can be lower from 3 to 5 degrees from the lower part of the region. The Carpathian region offers renowned ski resorts due to its 5 months average yearly snow fall.
Rivers and streams are pristine. There are many spectacular waterfalls and water rafting is a popular sport. The largest rivers are Dniester and Prut.
 Iwano-Frankiwsk region has the richest forest of Ukraine. The forest covers 41% of its territory, from many species of leaf trees in the plains and coniferous trees in the mountain area. The territory is also the home of large game animals, some of them protected.
In the mountainous part of the territory (503 square km ), we can find the Carpathian Natural National Park. It envelops parts of the rivers Prut and Tcheremosh with the Howerla. The mission of the park is to preserve the landscape, animals and plants to its natural habitat.

 

 We have in our region 5 health resorts, 11 sanatoriums with many thermal and mineral water.
